New Purple Belt Thomas
Team Silva Alameda member Thomas Higano came by to train in Hayward tonight. Thomas received his purple belt after winning US Open and the Bay Area Jiu Jitsu Championship. He's also looking to fight MMA. His martial arts future looks bright at a young age of 20! Congratz.

US Open 2011 Team Silva BJJ
As always, Team Silva BJJ comes to the US Open to represent. The venue this year was at the San Jose State Event Center. The Event Center is a much better location with parking being a breeze, the center itself being very spacious and a lot shorter drive than Santa Cruz!
We had about a dozen competitors this year all of whom did their best. Special Congratz to "Pirate" for earning his way to Brown belt by winning his division in spectacular fashion!

Goodbye to a Team Silva Member
Shiu Ling as been with the Hayward crew for the past three months and those days just blew by fast and she has to go. We hope she'll enjoy her next location as much as she did with Hayward.

CHECKMAT Fight Training @Team Silva BJJ Alameda
The two academies that represent Team Checkmat in northern California met today for some good training. Black Belts Elizandro Santista from Folsom, CA and Robinho taught some techniques at Team Silva BJJ in Alameda. Students from Folsom and Alameda got to train together and become new friends!
